WIP Wednesday

Hello there reader!!

Crafting has been a bit slow lately as I'm getting back to normal routines after getting home from my conference... but I am getting things done!

Over the weekend, I finished a purse for our cousin's daughter's birthday, though I'm still thinking about adding some sort of embellishment. Here's a glimpse, but the final Ta-Da is on hold until the present is given.

I've started making a new hat for cousin Joey...

And I'm on Boutique bag #4 for Ben's party favors

I love making these boutique bags, they are so cute and work up quickly. Want to make one yourself? Check out the pattern from Tangled Happy

Ta-Da: Victoria's hat & scarf

I think I've probably blogged about my excited little girl who thinks that every time I get new yarn it's suppose to make her a hat. She convinced me to buy yarn because "it's so beautiful" and she asked me so sweetly to make her a hat... and I did - then she realized there was more yarn left over so she asked for a scarf too, so I made it. Then she was begging me to make her a black hat when I pulled out my huge skein of black... and was beyond excited when I told her my plans to make her a Santa hat.
So, I was planning to make her much desired black hat while she was away this week so that it'll be a little surprise for her on Christmas. That was one of the main things on my "must make" list for this week, since I wouldn't get caught making it. I also wanted to make a coordinating scarf so my little accessory queen was happy!

I finished the hat on Monday and added the hot pink rose that I made as my very first knitted item. I was pretty happy with the finished project.

Then I began working on the scarf and finished it up yesterday. The jury is still out on the scarf, as it's not my usual and the colors are a bit loud but I've had people tell me that they like it, and I know Victoria will love it even if I don't. The colors are really off in the photo, but you get the idea.
And, of course I took a photo of the two together, which shows the colors a bit better. I know she'll love it!

Finished Objects and a Work in Progress

So, I'm still in a bit of a slump, but I did get two hats off the hook this week. Nothing fancy, and definitely nothing exciting, but it was productive.  I need to get a picture of Ben in his hat because frankly, he's so stinkin' adorable.  But for now - just a look at the hat I made for cousin Joey and the hat I made, of the same color, for Benny Bear. The sizes are quite different, but that's to be expected since cousin Joey has a large head (and he's an adult) and Ben is only 7 months old!

And, my current knit WIP.  I really love the look of the yarn on my needles! I'm almost out of yarn and I'm not getting any more as this was just really a test run and Derek said he's fine with it not being an extra long & bunchy neckwarmer.  I'd be willing to buy more yarn and make it longer, but he already has a crochet neck warmer that I'll be lining with a nice knit fabric to make it extra warm for those winter days in the woods.

That's my girl!

Yesterday I took the kids to AC Moore with me since Derek had work and I really wanted to pick up a pair of circular knitting needles while I had a 50% off coupon. I also had to look at a few things for my sister-in-law's shower so I thought this was a perfect small trip to get us out of the house.

Well, Tori loved it. She was so interested in all the fun stuff they had. But the best was when we got to the needlework area and she ran over to the Bernat display with the special edition pink yarns they have for Breast Cancer Awareness month. She ran over to me so excited and said "The is so beautiful Mommy. Please can you make me a hat?". How do you say no to that? You don't - or at least I didn't.

We got home and she watched a movie and played with her new things- some velvet coloring posters and Beauty & the Beast sticker on scrapbook paper that she was cutting with her new "kids" scissors. She asked if I could make her hat, so I got started on it. It was cute, it's three shades of pink with white. It's cotton yarn, so it's not exactly my top choice for a hat, but she was so excited watching me start it. I finished it after she went to bed last night and surprised her with it when she woke up. Of course, she had to wear it today - at least this morning it was cool enough for a kid to wear a hat. (And, I matched her outfit to the hat - love her cute pink & black shirt)
When she realized I had more yarn left, she asked if I could make a scarf, so of course that's on my hook right now - just a basic dc scarf, nothing fancy. Maybe a fringe when I'm done if she wants it. She was so impatient about it, I caught her trying to crochet while I was cleaning!
